Sword of the Spirit

Point of View:
So the sword was the last piece of armor Paul listed. It was viewed as a very deadly and powerful weapon and had a two-edged blade that inflicted way more damage then any other sword from that time. That alone gave them an offensive advantage over all the army’s of that day and made them very hard to defend against. As soldiers of Christ fighting in life’s spiritual battle, we have a weapon far more effective than any piece of steel could ever be. What is this weapon? It’s the sword of the spirit, God’s Word aka the Bible. Did you know Jesus Himself used God’s Word to defend Himself against the devil? Satan tempted Jesus three times in the wilderness (Mathew 4:1-11) and all three times Jesus quoted scripture and stood strong against Satan’s schemes. How awesome is that?! God’s Word is such a powerful weapon and I want to challenge you to arm yourself with it.

The Challenge:
God gave us His Word aka the Sword of the Spirit because as believers, we are His soldiers, fighting against the schemes of the devil. I want to challenge you to equip this precious and unique weapon. If we speak God's word according to His plan, there is no power in the universe that can withstand it! That is because God has ultimate authority in this universe. Which makes sense right? After all, God spoke the universe into existence and is the creator of all things. There is power in God’s Word! It’s time to commit yourself to knowing, understanding and applying God’s Word to your life. Now the only question is... are you willing?

Prayer Points:
• Thank God for giving us the Sword of the Spirit. (Bible)
• Ask for wisdom in applying Gods Word to your life.
• Pray that you would grow a never-ending passion for reading His Word.
