The Mustard Seed Must Grow - August 4th, 2011

Point of View:
After looking for several weeks at the idea of casting aside our doubt, and becoming excited about the Lord being able to use us in new and exciting ways once we do the question inevitably arises, “but how do I cast aside my doubt?” It is all very well and good to tell a friend or yourself to just not worry and to ignore the big warning signs that the devil puts up all around. However, unless we are to take some kind of action that doubt is going to remain begrudgingly there, clinging tight to every decision we make. If someone that you care about or yourself is struggling to remove doubt from their heart, then the best course of action is to take action!

The Challenge:
This may seems counterproductive at first. How can I take action for the Lord to remove doubt if doubt is the very thing holding me back? This is a fair question, and the answer is, little steps. God gives everyone the strength and courage to carry out His will, that is a promise, and though the mountain may seem high, with training it can be climbed. Pray to God to fill you with courage to take the small steps first in putting your trust in Him and not doubting. You have to learn to walk before you run, and run before you can fly.

Prayer Points:
• Pray that the Lord fill you with the courage that you need to take small steps in putting aside your doubt for Him.
• Thank God that the challenges that you see as needing to be overcome, or goals that you have bring you closer, as well as make you stronger in Christ. The weight is our gift.
• Reflect upon the amazing situation that we are in that we may be in a relationship with a God who wants us to grow and to conquer the mountains in our lives so that we may climb closer to Him!

The Word:

"The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith!' The Lord replied. 'If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.” - Luke 17:5-6
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” - 1 Corinthians 10:13
